On this page, you can find information about the processing of your personal data in connection with the provision S-Etukortti cardholder benefits and services.
The most visible purpose for which your personal data is used is to ensure that you receive your co-op member benefits. For example, in order to pay Bonus for your purchases, we must be aware of persons included in your co-op member household, the S-Etukortti cards at their disposal and the Bonus purchases they make. We target product and service benefits to you on the basis of your region, shopping locations and purchases, among other things.
Your personal data is used to produce benefits included in the co-op membership system, such as the S-mobiili store section, the Oma S-kanava online service, electronic receipt services and the My Purchases service, so that you can always see your up-to-date information and benefits in the services.
We target communications, marketing and content based on customer data. This ensures that you will receive useful information about the S Group’s services, the current status of your customer relationship and useful tips.
Your customer data is also used at customer service points and in the telephone service during service situations related to your co-op membership. Furthermore, in order for the S Group to be able to serve you and other co-op members as well as possible – in shops, restaurants, hotels and service station stores – your customer data is used for analyses carried out during the development of the S Group’s business operations, as well as for client grouping and profiling. The data also is also used during duties related to the cooperative’s membership administration, such as the management of the membership list and the membership fees, as well as arranging elections of the cooperative’s Council of Representatives.

You can control the use of your personal data by providing various permissions and prohibitions, and by using services.
You have the right to prohibit direct marketing, in which case we will not use your data to target marketing and communications. If you want to receive marketing, but want to choose through which channel, you can allow us to send marketing messages by email and mobile phone, or prohibit traditional printed direct marketing, telephone marketing or targeting in channels other than the S Group’s own channels. You can also prohibit polls and market surveys if you do not wish to receive any survey requests from us.
If you do not want us to collect information about your purchases at the product level, you can give a prohibition on purchasing information at the product level. On the other hand, we can offer you useful services based on your purchase information: you can start using an electronic receipt archive, an electronic warranty receipt service or the My Purchases service, where you can monitor your actual shopping behaviour.
Some of the permissions and prohibitions can be given through S-mobiili, where you can also use the additional services. You can provide any permissions and prohibitions by logging into your Oma S-kanava or using the co-op member service (available in almost all Prisma and Sokos stores), by sending a message using the feedback form – select “asiakasomistajuus” (co-op membership), S-Etukortti card and Bonus as the subject matter – by calling the S Group’s co-op member service, tel. 010 76 5858 (Mon–Fri from 9 am to 4 pm, call rates € 0,084 per minute)
Open in separate pageWe also process the personal data of minors in the S Group’s co-op member and customer register. There is no minimum age for co-op membership, and a minor can also be added to a co-op member household.
An agreement is always made on becoming a co-op member or joining a co-op member household. A minor’s agreement must always be signed by their guardian, who also accepts the adding of the minor to the S Group co-op member system and the processing of the minor’s personal data.
We may also target advertising to minors to a limited degree. We always implement direct marketing for minors in accordance with legislation and official guidelines.
Open in separate pageThere are several grounds for processing the data in the S Group’s co-op member and customer register in accordance with data protection legislation.
The processing of personal data necessary for the implementation of the co-op member system’s benefits and services, and the management of the cooperative’s co-op member administration are based on an agreement on co-op membership and joining the co-op membership system. Other contractual manners of processing the data include the management of the co-op membership, customer communication related to the co-op membership system and the targeting of marketing and advertising activities via the S Group’s own channels.
On the basis of your consent, we can send you marketing messages via email, mobile phone or the mobile app. Consent is also the basis of processing when we process the personal data of other customers, such as when a non-co-op member subscribes to a newsletter or logs into our online store.
A statutory obligation is the basis for the maintenance of the cooperative’s public membership list, the disclosure of information to the Tax Administration, the retention of documentation on financial transactions related to co-op membership the replying to official requests for information.
Based on the data controller’s legitimate interest, we gather specific purchasing information and use the customer data to develop the S Group’s business operations. This includes analysing the purchasing behaviour of customer groups, calculating client groupings, profiling, opinion polls and market surveys, for example. Legitimate interest is also the grounds for traditional direct marketing and the targeting of advertisements in channels other than the S Group’s own ones and for the necessary disclosure of information between the S Group organisations.
The legitimate interest has been assessed on the basis that the S Group’s operations are cooperative in nature and the S Group is owned by its co-op members. Co-op membership is optional and the membership system is open. The purpose of the operations is to provide customer-oriented, meaningful and cost-effective services and benefits to the co-op members, and thus promote financial wellbeing of the co-op members. The analysing of purchasing behaviour and the calculation of customer profiles, as well as related direct marketing and content targeting, as well as opinion polls and market surveys are key ways to achieve this goal.
As our customer, you can object the processing of personal data based on legitimate interest at any time. You can prohibit the processing of your purchase information (except for the sum total of your receipt), direct marketing, telephone marketing, opinion polls and market surveys as well as, starting from the beginning of September, analytics, profiling and targeting in channels outside the S Group. You can issue prohibitions through Oma S-kanava or by contacting tietosuoja.asiakkuus@sok.fi. You can also prohibit the transmission of your data for analytics purposes in mobile applications.
Open in separate pageCustomer data is only processed by persons whose duties so require. Access to the personal data is protected by means of personal user credentials, and only limited to the data required for each task.
Customer service related to the personal data of the S Group’s co-op member and customer register is handled at the outlets’ customer service points and in the S Group co-op member service (centralised telephone service and the processing of feedback).
The data of co-op members can be used for marketing purposes by all of the S Group companies and the S Group’s partners. The marketing of S Group partners is realised by sending messages from SOK or via our trusted subcontractors (such as a printing house) to which the target group will be submitted. In other words, we will not disclose customer data to our partners for this purpose.
Customer data is also used to develop the S Group’s business operations in order to enable the S Group companies to provide the co-op members with services and benefits that are as good and appropriate as possible. Individual customer data is never used in analytics. Instead, customer data is always processed by customer group. For analytical purposes, customer data has also been pseudonymised, i.e. converted into a format from which a single customer cannot be directly identified. Customer data is only processed for analytics purposes by a designated group of specialists.
